The name of the Minister of Commerce, Ashit Gungah, was mentioned during the police enquiry on cars with falsified horsepower declarations. Those car owners paid lower registrations fees at the NTA by underrating their vehicle’s horsepower, a fraud running into the thousands. It was found that a car which Minister Gungah sold in 2010 was on the list. He will have to call at the CID Port Louis North early next week for his interrogation. “I do not know anything. I have always complied with the laws of the land in all my undertakings. Everything I did was legal, I am available for the enquiry. I have nothing to hide and have all my documents,” said Mr Gungah to Radio Plus. On Thursday, some changes have been announced regarding this police enquiry. ASP Hector Tuyau, who was till now in charge of the CID Port Louis North, has been relegated to second position as his officer in charge will as from now be SP Daniel Monvoisin. The latter was transferred from the CID Western Division. The police headquarters claim this decision forms part of a new procedure whereby all police divisions will be headed by a superintendent of police.
